Jessica Riddle

Application Specialist

Jessica is Ozark MMJ Card’s incredible application specialist, who is responsible for reviewing patients’ applications and making sure they have the best possible chance for certification for medical marijuana. Her job as an Application Specialist was born out of Owner Dr. Daniel Whitelocke’s desire to only take on patients who qualify for medical marijuana.

I am a mom of two (a boy and a girl), plus two dogs, and I live on the Eastern Shore. During my free time, I love going to my son’s soccer games and my daughters’ dance classes. But what I enjoy most is going to the beach (that’s one of the reasons I moved here ) and spending time with my family and friends!”, says Jessica.

During the early stages of the company, Dr. Whitelocke used to drive around the state of Arkansas to review patients and their documentation before certifying them to use medical marijuana. According to Dr. Whitelocke’s wife, Janelle, “The unfortunate thing about kind-hearted doctors is that they don’t always think in terms of profits.” Dan would jump in the car and drive three hours to see a patient, and, if they didn’t have sufficient documentation to qualify for certification, he refused to charge them for the visit. Janelle adds,“Regardless of how vehemently I yelled numbers and calculations at him, he always said, ‘this is my business, and if I want to lose money in order to not screw people over, then that is my prerogative!’”. Unfortunately, that kind of empathy is a business killer, but Janelle was up for the challenge.

This led them to create an online pre-approval process through an appointment app. Patients used the app to apply for their specific conditions by providing documentation and medical history for the same. Here is where Jessica’s role came in – she is the one who reviewed these patients’ applications before they could be approved for certification. She also helped patients with updating their applications until she was near certain that the doctor could certify them. It is like this role was made for Jessica Riddle and this ended up being an excellent process.

“You can think of Jessica as your lawyer, responsible for ensuring you have the best possible case to be certified,” says Janelle. The doctor is the final judge and decides whether you get your Physician’s Written Certification based on the history Jessica has collected. If the doctors don’t like the case she provides, they can reject it and the patient is refunded. Jessica is, essentially, your advocate that Ozark MMJ Cards provides you with, at no cost! Her goal is to put together the best possible file, so you can rest assured that when you come in for your visit, you will get your medical marijuana certification.

What makes Jessica perfect for this is not only her medical background, which gives her advanced knowledge on what to look for, but also her kind, gentle, yet strong, personality that helps her deal with every type of patient with the utmost patience (pun unintended). For her, every application needs to be handled with extreme respect and care. Jessica puts in a lot of time and effort while reviewing them and if there is even a shred of a doubt as to what she needs to obtain, she discusses it with Dr Whitelocke before getting back to the patient.

She recognizes that the things these patients have been through are incredibly painful and, hence, tries to resolve all their medical legalities in the gentlest way possible. “It’s a delicate song and dance” says Janelle, “not all of these patients want to be bugged for information, and the prodding can put them on edge, but Jessica always manages to handle these situations tactfully.”

Her job is undoubtedly very tough because, while she is working on the patient’s behalf, she also has to field off their unbridled aggression when they don’t want to be prodded for more information. Jessica probably sees the worst side of these patients, but, like the wonderful human being she is, she just takes a breath and proceeds to patiently explain to them what she needs. Ozark MMJ Cards cares very deeply about their Jessica – she deserves the utmost praise and respect for her difficult job, truly well done!
